With a passion for search engine marketing

Rheinwunder was founded in Bonn in 2012 by Ralph Grundmann as a specialised SEO agency. Its roots go back to 2005, when Ralph and a business partner founded the online marketing agency AWESEM Limited in Chester, England, followed in 2008 by the German company AWESEM Limited & Co. KG, based in Hamburg. After parting ways with his business partner, Ralph transferred the online marketing business in 2012 into Rheinwunder UG (haftungsbeschränkt) & Co. KG, based in Bonn. Since 2017 the company has operated as Rheinwunder GmbH.

With solid experience in performance marketing, Ralph not only took over the SEO expertise but also continuously expanded the service portfolio, initially with SEA (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads), later with content marketing, web analytics and accessible optimisation.

Realignment and expansion

Rheinwunder becomes a GmbH

In 2017, Olga Grundmann ended her role as Head of Affiliate Marketing at Galeria Kaufhof GmbH to drive the strategic development of Rheinwunder together with Ralph. In this context, the agency was transformed into a GmbH. Olga joined as managing director and took on the responsibility for the structural expansion of the company.

Since then, Rheinwunder has been active at two locations in Bonn: Olga and the affiliate team work at Ermekeilstraße in Bonn’s Südstadt. Ralph is working with the SEO, SEA, and development team at Sebastianstraße in Bonn-Poppelsdorf.

Rheinwunder continues to grow

Since its founding, a lot has happened, and Rheinwunder has steadily and sustainably grown. This growth is supported by consistently high customer satisfaction and our commitment to continuously develop our service portfolio. Today, Rheinwunder employs more than 20 people in the areas of search engine marketing (SEO & SEA), content marketing, affiliate marketing, as well as software development and web analytics.

In recent years, a special focus has been put on the technical expansion of the agency. We have specifically invested in our development capacities and strategically expanded the analytics area. This enables us to realise tailored solutions for individual requirements: from tracking setup to automated dashboards to AI-based tools.

We support many processes with our own tools, built by our development team: a tool for measuring AI visibility, an SEO tool for crawling and title and meta description suggestions, the Feed Manager for product feeds in ChatGPT, a Reddit content generator for topic ideas, a Wikipedia extractor for research, an uptime monitor for websites and APIs and our own ticket system for support requests. Quotes are created in our own quote builder, and the path from quote through project management to invoicing is automated.

During his time in the UK, founder Ralph Grundmann worked with well-known organisations such as EasyJet, British Red Cross, and Visit Britain. This international wealth of experience shapes the strategic depth and quality understanding of Rheinwunder to this day.

Today, we serve both medium-sized companies and international brands, including Rosenthal, GEMA, Deutsches Ärzteblatt, the Krüger Group with Maxinutrition, hafervoll and Sodapop, Roland Berger, Bitdefender, and ROMA. As a boutique agency, we place special emphasis on personal consulting, transparency, and measurable results, regardless of the size of the company.

The successful start with the first apprenticeship position in 2013 has motivated us to consistently invest in young talent. This has led to Rheinwunder now offering five apprenticeship professions:

In this context, it should be particularly emphasised that Rheinwunder takes its training mandate very seriously, with the success that we continue to employ many of our trainees as well as numerous of our working students.

2005

Foundation in Great Britain

The roots of Rheinwunder GmbH go back to 2005, when Ralph and his business partner founded AWESEM Limited in Chester, England.

2008

Foundation in Germany

With AWESEM Limited & Co. KG, Ralph and his business partner found the agency’s German company in 2008, based in Hamburg.

2012

Founding of Rheinwunder

After parting ways with his business partner, Ralph leaves AWESEM and transfers the online marketing business of AWESEM Limited & Co. KG into the newly founded Rheinwunder UG (haftungsbeschränkt) & Co. KG, based in Bonn.

2013

The first employees & training professions

With its first apprentice in 2013, Rheinwunder starts training. The first employees in SEO (content) and SEA follow, and Rheinwunder becomes an IHK-certified training company for marketing communications and office management.

2017

Rheinwunder becomes a GmbH

After 5 years as Head of Affiliate at Galeria Kaufhof GmbH, Olga joins as the second managing partner. Rheinwunder UG (haftungsbeschränkt) & Co. KG becomes Rheinwunder GmbH (Bonn Local Court, HRB 22685).

2019

Online marketing tools

In order to optimise internal workflows, Rheinwunder has developed its own online marketing suite with modules for keyword analysis, link building, and publisher acquisition.

2020

Organic growth

Rheinwunder is continuously evolving and growing step by step through its own strength. New employees, a growing customer network, and the expansion of core competencies characterise this phase. The team is growing steadily and sustainably, without acquisitions, without external investors, but through constant development and successful projects.

2022

Many (great) new employees

Rheinwunder continues to grow: 20 employees are spread across the areas of SEO (Technical), SEO (Content), SEA & SMM, Affiliate Marketing, and Software Development.

2023

Expansion of development capacities

Rheinwunder specifically expands its internal development resources to implement customised, tailored tracking and data solutions. This brings individual developments more into focus, and projects can be realised more flexibly and significantly faster.

2024

Launch of own tools

In 2024, Rheinwunder expands its service portfolio with two self-developed AI tools. The AI Alt Text Generator enables the automated optimisation of accessible and SEO-strong image descriptions. The AI Product Text Generator for WooCommerce provides scalable, high-quality product texts at the push of a button.

2025

Growth & Expansion of Services

In 2025 Rheinwunder continues to grow organically: numerous new clients are added, and the new GEO consulting service specifically expands the range of services.

2026

Expansion of GEO & new in-house tools

In 2026, Rheinwunder continues to expand its services around AI SEO. At the same time, the in-house tool portfolio grows by two solutions: the WP Lead Tracker enables transparent capture and analysis of leads directly in WordPress. With the AI visibility tool, the visibility of brands in ChatGPT and Gemini becomes measurable on the basis of data, for even better-founded strategies in AI search and Generative Engine Optimisation.
