With a passion for search engine marketing

Rheinwunder was founded in 2012 by Ralph Grundmann in Bonn as a specialized SEO agency. Its origins date back to 2006: At that time, Ralph, together with a partner, founded the online marketing agency AweSEM Ltd. Due to family changes, the business location was moved to the Rhineland in 2012 – the foundation for Rheinwunder was established.

With solid experience in performance marketing, Ralph not only took over the SEO expertise but also continuously expanded the service portfolio – initially with SEA (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads), later with content marketing, web analytics and accessible optimization.

 Realignment and expansion 

Rheinwunder becomes a GmbH

In 2017, Olga Grundmann ended her role as Head of Affiliate Marketing at a renowned department store company to drive the strategic development of Rheinwunder together with Ralph. In this context, the agency was transformed into a GmbH. Olga joined as managing director and took on the responsibility for the structural expansion of the company.

Since then, Rheinwunder has been active at two locations in Bonn: Olga and her affiliate team work at Ermekeilstraße in Bonn’s Südstadt. Ralph is working with the SEO, SEA, and development team at Sebastianstraße in Bonn-Poppelsdorf.

Rheinwunder continues to grow

Since its founding, a lot has happened – and Rheinwunder has steadily and sustainably grown. This growth is supported by consistently high customer satisfaction and our commitment to continuously develop our service portfolio. Today, Rheinwunder employs around 20 employees in the areas of search engine marketing (SEO & SEA), content marketing, affiliate marketing, as well as software development and web analytics.

In recent years, a special focus has been put on the technical expansion of the agency. We have specifically invested in our development capacities and strategically expanded the analytics area. This enables us to realize tailored solutions for individual requirements – from tracking setup to automated dashboards to AI-based tools.

During his time in the UK, founder Ralph Grundmann worked with well-known organizations such as EasyJet, British Red Cross, and Visit Britain. This international wealth of experience shapes the strategic depth and quality understanding of Rheinwunder to this day.

Today, we serve both medium-sized companies and international brands – including Rosenthal, GEMA, the German Medical Journal, the Krüger Group (Maxinutrition), Roland Berger, Bitdefender, and ROMA. As a boutique agency, we place special emphasis on personal consulting, transparency, and measurable results – regardless of the size of the company.

The successful start with the first apprenticeship position in 2013 has motivated us to consistently invest in young talent. This has led to Rheinwunder now offering five apprenticeship professions:

  • businesswoman / businessman for marketing communication
  • businesswoman / businessman for office management
  • businesswoman / businessman for e-commerce
  • IT specialist for application development
  • IT specialist for system integration

In this context, it should be particularly emphasized that Rheinwunder takes its training mandate very seriously, with the success that we continue to employ many of our trainees as well as numerous of our working students.

From a solo fighter focused on SEO to an online marketing agency

2006

Foundation in Great Britain

The roots of Rheinwunder GmbH date back to 2006 when Ralph, together with his partner, founded AweSEM Limited in Chester, England.

2008

Foundation in Germany

After over 5 years abroad and various SEO activities both in-house and on the agency side, Ralph returns to Germany and founds AweSEM Limited & Co. KG in 2008.

2012

Rebranding to Rheinwunder

After 6 years at AweSEM, Ralph is leaving the company. From the online marketing sector of the company, operating as AweSEM Ltd. & Co. KG, the Rheinwunder UG & Co. KG based in Bonn is established.

2014

The first employees & training professions

The first employees are hired in the area of SEO (Content) and SEA. Rheinwunder is an IHK certified training company for Marketing & Communication and Office Management.

2017

Conversion to GmbH

After 5 years as Head of Affiliate at Galeria Kaufhof GmbH, Olga is leaving the company to join as the second managing partner. Rheinwunder is becoming a GmbH.

2019

Online marketing tools

In order to optimize internal workflows, Rheinwunder has developed its own online marketing suite with modules for keyword analysis, link building, and publisher acquisition.

2020

Organic growth

Rheinwunder is continuously evolving and growing step by step through its own strength. New employees, a growing customer network, and the expansion of core competencies characterize this phase. The team is growing steadily and sustainably – without acquisitions, without external investors, but through constant development and successful projects.

2022

Many (great) new employees

Rheinwunder continues to grow: Currently, 20 employees are distributed across the areas of SEO (Technical), SEO (Content), SEA & SMM, Affiliate Marketing, and Software Development.

2023

Expansion of development capacities

Rheinwunder specifically expands its internal development resources to implement customized, tailored tracking and data solutions. This brings individual developments more into focus, and projects can be realized more flexibly and significantly faster.

2024

Launch of own tools

In 2024, Rheinwunder expands its service portfolio with three self-developed AI and tracking tools. The AI Alt Text Generator enables the automated optimisation of accessible and SEO-strong image descriptions. The AI Product Text Generator for WooCommerce provides scalable, high-quality product texts at the push of a button. The WP Lead Tracker captures UTM data, referrers, and form inputs directly in WordPress and allows for transparent analysis of lead quality.

2025

Growth & Expansion of Services

2025 sees Rheinwunder grow organically: The team reaches 25 employees, numerous new clients are added, and with the new GEO consulting the range of services is specifically expanded.

We at Rheinwunder want to bring the human back to the centre of the internet. For this, we develop our own software, which we use for various tasks. Last but not least, we will also increasingly focus on sustainability in the future – for quality assurance, but also for the environmentally friendly design of the office and work processes.
